OpenMoney is here to make financial advice affordable and accessible for everyone. Normally, when you're deciding what to do with your money, you either have to figure it out yourself (but not many people know how it all works), or you can use a financial adviser (but they can cost a lot of money). In fact, there are millions of people in Britain who would benefit from having financial advice but who have been unable to access or afford it. They’re caught in we call the Financial Advice Gap.

As a result, many of these people get caught in financial cycles that they struggle to get out of. It could be running out of money at the end of every month, not knowing how and where to invest, or leaving money and savings in poorly performing investments. We’re here to help these people. We want to provide our expert financial advice to 100K people who couldn’t find what they need or afford elsewhere. At OpenMoney, we’ll give everyone who comes to us that honest and expert advice, and because our extensive use of technology, we’re able to keep costs very low.

Who are we looking for?

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, embedded within one of our delivery teams you will line manage developers and be primary within the team. Giving guidance and mentorship to developers, you will build the solutions needed to support the business goals.  

What about the technology?

All our infrastructure is in Azure, your primary focus will be on customer management portal (Angular) and back end services (.NET core functions/web apps). In addition, you will get exposure to Open Banking APIs and authentication providers like Auth0.  

What will I be doing day to day?

Responsible for ensuring your team:

  • Follows established patterns and practices
  • Keeps things simple
  • Line management and mentorship of developers
  • Contributing to architectural decisions, development patterns and practices
  • Building and maintaining services
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders
  • Taking ownership of, and pride in, the features which are being developed
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and how they might be used for product improvement

 What are we looking for?

  • Demonstrable experience of building .net services (3+ years)
  • Demonstrable experience of mobile development (1+ years)
  • To have an opinion on what is the best thing to do and be willing to challenge pre-conceptions -ultimately happy to proceed with the chosen route/option.  

Experience in:

  • Angular or other JavaScript based language
  • Git
  • Build automation tools
  • Mentoring less experienced developers
  • Knowledge of established development patterns and strategies
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and time management skills
  • Willingness to collaborate, share ideas and coach more junior developers
