Commercial Analyst

Who are OpenMoney?

OpenMoney is here to make financial advice affordable and accessible for everyone. Normally, when you're deciding what to do with your money, you either have to figure it out yourself (but not many people know how it all works), or you can use a financial adviser (but they can cost a lot of money).

In fact, there are millions of people in Britain who would benefit from having financial advice but who have been unable to access or afford it. They’re caught in what we call the ‘Financial Advice Gap’.

As a result, many of these people get caught in financial cycles that they struggle to get out of. It could be running out of money at the end of every month, not knowing how and where to invest, or leaving money and savings in poorly performing investments.

We’re here to help these people. We want to provide our expert financial advice to people who couldn’t find what they need or afford elsewhere. At OpenMoney, we’ll give everyone who comes to us that honest and expert advice, and because of our extensive use of technology, we’re able to keep costs low.

What will I be doing day to day?

You'll have demonstrable commercial acumen, strong analytical skills and commercial awareness & an ability to provide insightful analysis and a passion for problem solving. Confident in using an Excel based financial model to assist in the development and review of projections, plans and scenarios to help inform business decision making.

You'll be highly motivated, eager to learn new skills, adept at problem solving and keen to work in a growing company rather than an established structure. Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) are what you need to succeed you'll be required to interact closely with internal and external stakeholders. 

Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Planning and Insight, working alongside the existing Finance function.

What am I responsible for?

• Playing a key role in continuous development of reporting, analysis and insights to monitor performance.
• To promote and provide discussion in areas including market trends, product performance, marketing campaign performance, customer segmentation and behaviour.
• Regular and ad-hoc provision of financial and non-financial KPIs to support understanding throughout the business of products, customers, channels etc.
• Work closely alongside the Finance team to participate and contribute to ensuring senior managers understand business performance (both past and future). 
• Work closely with product, data and technical teams to ensure data provision is accurate and fit for business purpose (continual review).
• Support the Head of Commercial Planning and Insight in preparation of reporting and presentations.
• Assist in the development and review of projections, plans and scenarios to help inform business decision making.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures and work instructions 

What are we looking for?

• Proven relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within or alongside a Finance function 
• Ability to provide clear, concise and insightful business performance analysis 
• Highly numerate, with an ability to look behind the numbers and understand the business drivers
• Highly proficient analytical skills and ability to identify and investigate trends in data
• Excellent knowledge of MS Excel
• Ability to define, manage and prioritise own workload
• Relevant industry experience is desirable but not essential
• A proactive & hardworking personality with a passion for understanding how a complex business operates 
• Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills 
• Attention to detail 
• Eligibility to work in the UK 
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills 
• Developing commercial awareness throughout the business to drive improved performance
• Attendance at monthly stakeholder meetings presenting the performance of products and opportunities for discussion
• Provision of data that is accurate, timely and fit for purpose
